A new craft every day

Cardboard Tube Snake

2013 is the year of the Snake according to Chinese lore. Recycle a cardboard tube into a snake to celebrate the new year.

Supplies

  • Cardboard tube
  • Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • scissors
  • Newspapers
  • Wiggle Eyes
  • Glue

Instructions

  1. First paint the inside and outside of the cardboard tube with a background color of your choice and let dry. We picked red, one of the favorite colors of the Chinese.
  2. Then decorate the outside of the tube in a design of your choosing. Let dry.
  3.  Using the picture as a guide cute the tube into a coil.
  4.  Taper one end into a point as the tail.
  5.  Taper the other end into a head for the snake and add two wiggle eyes.
  6.  Cut a forked tongue from scrapes of felt or construction paper and glue to the underside of the head.
  7.  Now go ahead and celebrate Chinese New Year.

Almost Unschoolers

I'm a homeschool mom of six. My family has been homeschooling for about eleven years. And, each year, we've learned a little more about having fun, and spending less, while learning more. It's great to be a homeschooler!
