Pirate Hat

September 19th is Talk Like A Pirate Day. Here’s a Pirate’s Hat craft that’s easy for little hands.

Long strip of thin cardboard

Piece of black cardstock or heavy paper

White foam

Sequins or stickers

Click on Printables and print out the patterns.

Cut a long thin strip of card. Measure it to the circumference of your child's head and staple it together.

Fold your black piece of card in half. Then cut out the shape of the pirate hat.

Trace a jolly roger outline onto a piece of thin white foam or cardboard.

Carefully cut out and stick to the front of the hat. Alternatively, cut out the jolly roger shapes in the free printable project sheet and stick them directly on.

Tape on some colourful feathers and stick on some sequins or stickers to form a contrasting border.

Staple the black hat to the headband you created in step one.

Katie is the writer and creator of View From The Fridge. She is also the mom to two adorable little boys (and another baby on the way), and wife to a great guy! She loves to craft, decorate, dream up projects for her home, and she’s learning to love to cook (though not there quite yet). She started View From The Fridge in the fall of 2013. Katie also enjoys coffee, a good glass of wine or beer (when she’s not expecting!), running, and anything outside. She lives in Minnesota and takes full advantage of the wonderful (but short) summer season outside with her family.
