Origami Bird
Here’s another fun paper folding project to add to your origami collection. This Origami Bird is different from the popular crane, and it may be easier for younger crafters to fold with a little help from an adult.

Origami is a great quiet-time activity for kids at home, in the classroom, or as part of a homeschool art lesson. All you need is a square piece of paper and a little patience.
Fun Fact
Origami is the art of folding paper into shapes such as animals, flowers, boats, and other creative designs. The word origami comes from Japanese. “Ori” means folding, and “kami” means paper.

Teacher Friendly Educational Extension
Use this origami bird craft as part of a lesson about birds, Japan, or paper art traditions. After the children finish folding their birds, invite them to write one fact about birds or origami on a small card.
You can also have students compare different types of birds, talk about migration, or create a colorful bulletin board filled with their folded paper birds. This makes a simple craft into a fun classroom activity that combines art, culture, and science.
