Fireworks Tie Dye Tee Shirt

Celebrate Independence Day with your own Fireworks Tie Dye Tee Shirt. Light up the night with fireworks accented with sparkle puff paint. Pick your own color combinations and be the hit of the crowd on the Fourth.

Trivia:

Fourth of July fireworks first commemorated the holiday on July 4, 1777. In Philadelphia the Pennsylvania Evening Post wrote, “The evening was closed with the ring of bells, and at night there was a grand exhibition of fireworks (which began and concluded with thirteen rockets) on the Commons, and the city was beautifully illuminated.” Source: Slate – History of Fireworks in America.

Instructions

Start by protecting your surface with newspapers or an old plastic tablecloth. You don’t want to tie dye your table or floor.

Using the photo as a reference gather a small amount of fabric in a ball about 1 to 2 inches and hold with a rubber band. Another option is to use a large marble and gather the material around it and rubber band the marble inside the fabric.  Either way this creates the sunburst effect. Do this randomly on your tee shirt.

Apply dye on the top of the balls.

Apply the dye that you want for your basic color to the rest of the shirt.

Use dye according to package directions. Be sure to wear rubber gloves to protect your hands! Dye can be just as damaging as bleach to your unprotected skin.

The longer the garment remains in the dye, the darker and deeper the color will become.

Remove rubber bands and see the results.

We went one step further to turn our sunbursts into fireworks by add lines of Glitter Fabric Paint.

Have fun and enjoy the fireworks!
