Recycled Egg Carton Lobster craft

 This Egg Carton Lobster may have claws but you won’t have to worry about getting pinched! How cute is this crustacean? You can also add the Egg Carton Crab  to your crafty collection. Set up your own diorama with your lobster as the star of the show.

Wild lobsters can be green, blue, yellow, grey, calico, multi-colored or even albino. Most commonly, lobsters are a dark greenish-brown, and the more unique colors are the result of a genetic mutation that causes a color of pigment to be missing. When a lobster is cooked, only the red pigments in the shell can withstand the heat, resulting in the bright red shell most people are familiar with. Supplies
  • Empty Egg Carton
  • Red Paint and Brush
  • 4 Red Pipe Cleaners
  • 2 Wiggle Eyes
  • Scissors
  • Hole Punch
Instructions
  1. Cut egg carton in half the long way. You’ll only need one half for this project. Trim off two cups. Trim them each in half. Two cup halves will become the claws. One cup half with become the tail. Paint all pieces red. Let dry.
  2. Punch 4 holes along each side for the legs and 2 on top for the eyes.
  3. Fold a pipe cleaner in half. From the inside, thread one end of a folded pipe cleaner through 1 front leg hole and the other end through the other front leg hole. Pull both legs out as far as possible and glue a half cup to each end. Push a half pipe cleaner through each of the pair of the other leg holes. Bend to resemble legs.
  4. Push half pipe cleaner through the eye holes. Trim to 1 ½” long. Glue a wiggle eye on each end.
  5. Glue on the tail.
