Every child needs a stocking at Christmas. This Tissue Paper Stocking designed by the FreeKidsCrafts team is easy to make and can be personalized for each child. These stockings also make great decorations for young crafters to make for packages.

Trivia: 

Legend says the original Saint Nicholas, who traveled around bringing gifts and cheer to those in need, came upon a small village one year and heard of a family in need. An impoverished widower, devastated by the passing of his wife, could not afford to provide a dowry for his three daughters. St. Nick knew the man was too prideful to accept money, so he simply dropped some gold coins down the chimney, which landed in the  girl’s stockings, hung by the fireplace to dry. Supplies

• White Cardstock or Heavyweight Paper
• Red Tissue Paper
• Cotton Balls or White Tissue Paper
• Tacky Glue
• Scissors
• Paper Plate
• Newspaper
• Marker

Instructions

1. Print and cut out the stocking patterns. Cut out.
2. Place pattern on newspaper. Put some tacky glue on the paper plate. Dip cotton balls into tacky glue and place on stocking trim. You can also use white tissue paper for this step.
3. Cut red tissue paper into pieces approximately 1 1/2″ to 2″ square. Crinkle into a ball and dip into the tacky glue. Place on pattern. I find it helpful to go around the edges first and then fill in.
4. With marker print child’s name on tag and glue to stocking.
5. Crumple up three small square of red tissue paper for the holly berries and glue on.
