Print This Craft

These Recycled Finger Paint Birds were created from finger paint projects that were headed for trash. Instead of adding it to the landfill we recycled the paper by feeding it through our printer to print the bird patterns shown below. It’s a great way to give the finger painting a second life.

Trivia:

It is believed that children as young as two decorated French caves with markings known as finger flutings at least 13,000 years ago which is thought to be an early example of modern day finger painting. Source: History – Prehistoric Children Finger Painted on Cave Walls.

Supplies

• Finger Painting
• Printer
• Scissors
• Glue

Instructions

1. Take an old finger paint project that is completely dry and cut it to the size of a sheet a paper to fit through your printer. Make sure to print on the back so the pattern is easy to see.
2. Click on the pattern below to open it in a new window and hit print.
3.  We used bits and pieces of a finger print to make a background for our birds and recycled two old finger painting projects.

Use our pattern and then create your own to create even more masterpieces. This is an easy and fun art project and teaches children from an early age about recycling.
