Thumbprint Flowers

Thumbprint Flowers are a fun way to introduce young children to printing using their hands. It’s not as messy as handprints because the amount of hand surface covered with paint is limited to their thumbs. The thumbprint can be turned into so many fun painting project, be sure to check them all out.

Supplies

Newspapers
Two Colors School Paint
Paper Plate
Color Printer
Wipes

Instructions

Protect your work surface with newspapers.
Give each child their own printable to create their Thumbprint Flowers
Put a small quantity of of each paint on the paper plate. Look at the picture to see how you can print both colors at one time by putting a small quantity of one next to the other.
Take the child’s thumb and put it in the paint
Place the thumb on the paper to create the flowers using the picture as a reference. But feel free to create your own pattern of flowers.

Depending on how brave you feel, you can let the children put their own thumbs in the paint to make their flowers. Remember each picture will be unique just like their thumbprints.
