This craft reprinted courtesy of ThriftyFun.com. Here is a simple little basket you can put together in minutes. It's a great way to use up extra decorative paper plates. The size of the basket depends on the size of the plate you use. InstructionsChoose a decorative plate (the sample was a 7 inch plate). Flip the plate to the back and draw a square over the center (on the sample, the square was a two and three quarters inches). This square will be the basket bottom.
Make four cuts, each from the edge of the plate to one of the corners of the square. Now fold the plate up at each of the lines. This creates the sides of your basket. The plate decoration will be on the outside. Staple the sides to secure them and form the basket. Glue ribbon bows to the outside of the basket to cover the staples.
Use decorative shears to cut a strip of cardstock or construction paper for the handle (the sample handle measures three quarters of an inch by 11 inches). Straight edge shears will also work, naturally. Cut a piece of ribbon to match your plate and glue it to the handle strip. Glue the ends of the handle to the inside of the basket.
Place a little glue inside the basket, set a paper doily into the glue.
