These projects are created by Terri, Betty, Jamie or one of the talented staff members at MakingFriends.com. They have been created exclusively for publication on FreeKidsCrafts.com with supplies you'll be able to find around your house.

Have some old books laying around that no one wants but you hate to just add them to the landfill? Linda from MakingFriends.com decided to turn them into these beautiful flowers that you might want to make for yoursef, a friend or even for a fundraiser.

Instructions

Cut the paper into squares. Put the squares together into a pile.

Take one side of the squares and fold about half of an inch in. Then turn over and fold in about half of an inch repeat this until you have an accordion fold.

Cut a wire into 12 inches long then fold the wire in half.

Put the center of the accordion into the fold of the wire and then twist both pieces of wire tightly around the center of the accordion.

Then fan out both sides of the accordion. One side at a time, lift carefully (the paper can tear easily)  the top layer of paper up to the center of the wire. Then repeat until it forms the flower. Do this on both sides of the accordion.

Twist the two pieces of wire together to form the stem.

Add a little ribbon for that finishing touch.
