Sometimes you just can't be outside sitting around a real campfire, so here's a substitute that will make everyone smile. This was a church project for primary age children, but can work for children of all ages. Supplies 2 poster boards (1 orange, 1 yellow) Song Book Click here for printables Instructions Cut the poster board into shape of flames. Turn bucket upside down and tape the flames to it so when you put the lights inside they can sit on the bottom of the bucket. Hunt for some sticks outside and put a song and a page number on each one by placing the slip of paper on the stick and wrapping a rubber band or two around it.
Spread 2 sleeping bags out on the floor for the children to sit on. Place fire in front of them. Place lights in the fire and turn off the room lights to give it the campfire affect. (I handed out marshmallows so they could eat them while they sang) Have the children pick a stick with a song on it and place it by the fire before singing it. Make sure you have a lantern or a flashlight by the song book so you can see words and chords. They loved this because it was something different and it helped us review songs they already knew.
