Here are four simple braiding techniques to make personal bookmarks for you and your friends.


Supplies

(A) 640-112 Wool-Ease® Thick & Quick Yarn: Raspberry 
(B) 640-132 Wool-Ease® Thick & Quick Yarn: Lemongrass    
(C)640-178 Wool-Ease® Thick & Quick Yarn: Cilantro

Instructions

THREE-COLOR BOOKMARK
Cut a 48 in. (122 cm) long strand of each color yarn. Fold strands in half and knot together just below fold. Divide strands into 3 groups of 2 strands each (keeping A with A, B with B, C with C) and braid for about 9 in. (23 cm). Knot strands just below braid. Divide loose strands into 2 groups of one strand each of A, B and C. Braid each group separately. Knot ends.

 

TASSEL BOOKMARK
Cut 1 strand of A and 2 strands of C each about 28 in. (71 cm) long. Fold strands in half and knot together just below fold. Divide strands into 3 groups of 2 strands each (keeping A with A, and C with C) and braid for about 10 in. (25.5 cm). Knot strands just below braid. Trim ends. Cut 3 strands of A each about 10 in (25.5 cm) long. Knot strands tog at one end and braid. Knot strands just below braid. Fold braid in half and draw fold through top end of Bookmark forming a loop. Pull ends of braid through this loop and tighten. Cut two 8 in. (20.5 cm) long strands of B. Wrap one strand tightly over knot at one end of Bookmark, repeat with remaining strand on opposite end of Bookmark.

 

TWO-TONE BOOKMARK
Cut 1 strand of B and 2 strands of C each about 48 in. (122 cm) long. Fold strands in half and knot together about 6 in. (15 cm) below fold. Divide strands into 3 groups of 2 strands each (keeping B with B and C with C) and braid for about 9 in. (23 cm). Knot strands just below braid. Cut two 8 in. (20.5 cm) long strands of B. Wrap one strand tightly over knot at one end of Bookmark, repeat with remaining strand on opposite end of Bookmark. Divide loose strands at each end into 2 groups of 3 strands each. Braid each group separately. Knot ends.

 

DOUBLE BRAIDED BOOKMARK
Cut 1 strand of A and 2 strands of B each about 48 in. (122 cm) long. Fold strands in half and knot strands together about 6 in. (15 cm) below fold. Divide strands into 2 groups of 3 strands each and braid each group separately for about 9 in. (23 cm). Knot strands just below braid. Cut two 8 in. (20.5 cm) long strands of C. Wrap one strand tightly over knot at one end of Bookmark, repeat with remaining strand on opposite end of Bookmark. Divide loose strands at each end into 2 groups of 3 strands each. Braid each group separately. Knot ends.
