The idea of a store-sponsored Thanksgiving parade did not originate with Macy’s, but with Philadelphia’s Gimbel Brothers Department Store, which first staged a Thanksgiving procession in 1920 with 50 people, 15 cars and a fireman dressed as Santa Claus who ushered in the Christmas shopping season. Instructions
- Print out a Thanksgiving Parade Scavenger Hunt sheet for each participant
- Hand out a marker, pen or pencil for each
- Select a spot where each can mark their printable as the parade progresses. Clipboards are great if you have them or a piece of heavy cardboard.
- Turn on the TV and get ready for the parade
